Your Hobby Place Alexandria is hosting a session of Kidshammer on Saturday, October 15, 1-5 pm.
Kidshammer introduces kids to tabletop miniature gaming through Games Workshop’s popular Age of Sigmar (AoS) fantasy setting. The event at Your Hobby Place will be most open gaming, so that the kids can practice with their favorite armies. If anyone is completely new to the game, the event can provide a limited number of loaner models and instructions on how to play AoS. Kidshammer is intended chiefly for children aged 10-15, but children as young as 8-years old are welcome. A parent or guardian must remain on site at the store during a kid’s participation in the event. Tabletop gaming is not video gaming, and it's not board gaming. It’s like D&D combined with board gaming, but without the roleplaying and on a much larger scale. The games are played with painted plastic miniature models on custom-made battle boards. The armies of the two or more players battle each other, seeking to control objectives or accumulate points towards victory. If you are interested in having your kid attend, please register your kid for the event via the contact page of this website. The event is free. Although walk-ons are welcome on the day, the event runs much better if we have an idea of participation ahead of time.

Kidshammer had a successful return to the NOVA Open after a two-year absence caused by the pandemic. NOVA Open is held in Arlington, VA, and is one of the largest tabletop gaming conventions in the country. Kidshammer is proud to be a part of it.
It was the fifth time Kidshammer was held at the NOVA Open, so we were glad to welcome back some familiar faces. We were also excited to have many new players join the fun. It was also a thrill to be able to play Games Workshop's Kill Team Live! laser-tag game as part of the event. Thanks to all the kids (and parents!) who attended the event for your enthusiasm and sportsmanship. We hope to see you again soon, certainly at the next NOVA Open, but also at some "between NOVA" Kidshammer events at game store in the DC area. |
