Kidshammer Players and Parents:

Hope everyone’s summer is off to a good start! With the NOVA Open less than two months away – and with a bunch of Games Workshop releases since registration – now is a good time to touch base on getting ready for KidsHammer.  Below is some additional information from what was in the KidsHammer primer.

  • General Handbook 2019 (GHB19) was released in June.  KidsHammer will use the Pitched Battles (2019) rules, including revised points, the six additional scenery rules (Overgrown, Entangling, Volcanic, Commanding, Healing, and Nullifcation), and 2019 versions of battleplans.  You do not need to own a copy of the GHB19 to play at KidsHammer – we will have print outs of relevant materials.

  • Games Workshop released errata and FAQs for many factions on July 8, which are available online at https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/. The FAQs include new points for Blades of Khorne, Flesh Eater Courts, Gloomspite Gitz, and Skaven.  If you are planning to bring one of these factions, be sure to take the new points into account.  If you use Azyr or another list building app, it should update to include these revised points in the near future.  If you have any doubts about the validity of your list, feel free to email it before August 10 to customerservice@novaopen.com, and the tournament organizer will review it and confirm the validity of the list. You don’t have to do this of course – totally optional.

  • For Saturday morning and the tournament on Sunday, the three battleplans that will be used are: (1) Three Places of Power; (2) Total Conquest (2019); and (3) Focal Points (2019).

  • KidsHammer will be held in the same hall as all the other Age of Sigmar events.  Last year, KidsHammer was in a separate hall. This year, baring unforeseen events, it will be held in the same room as the GT and Narrative events.

  • We will have an optional KidsHammer painting contest on Sunday.  In addition to inspecting armies as a whole during lunch on Sunday, we will have a separate contest for the best-painted miniature. This can be any single miniature and doesn’t have to be part of the player’s army.  The miniature must be based, and must be100% painted by the player – no parental or other help! (Priming and assembly by parent is okay, however.)  Judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplace to the three best painted miniatures.

Be sure to check out the www.kidshammer.orgwebsite for news and updates, including pictures of the game boards being built and the custom missions for the Open Gaming on Saturday afternoon.

Have a great summer, and look forward to seeing you all at NOVA real soon!
